Precursors

When the vexori first achieved FTL travel and began exploring, they discovered how absolutely filled space was with signs of intelligent life. And, to their horror, how absolutely silent it was.

Ruins of spaceships, long since abandoned by their masters littered the void. Satellites and time capsules, echoing the dying words of a missing species. Worlds where cities and buildings haunt it's surface like ghouls clinging to fading memories. The vexori became terrified, and only until other species finally were discovered did were they finally able to see the beauty in once was.

There are currently three precursor species of note, known for differing things. Hundreds of other precursors are known to exist, but with only a single space station or city at best and nothing of particular importance to their name.

Precursor-N68

Also known as: Bats, Fireflies, Waak Tsik-tsik, Vorokest-ka, Ludsae Rifir

An elegantly winged bipedal species with bioluminescent wings for arms, likely wrapped around their thin frames as biological 'clothes'. Notably, this is the only precursor species who's end is known- they found a parasitic species (Precursor-E73) that slowly killed them off. Despite Precursor-N68's best efforts, they never found a cure.

The most scientifically developed species by far, with technology that has survived even the harshest treatments. While finding their ruins is hard, the materials and hardware gained can be easily adapted to modern day use and further improve the quality of life and safety of spaceships and stations.

Most valuable are the generator cores their stations carry, as one battery can power a station single-handedly for eons. Due to the demand for such technology, rights to territory and contracts must be bought by a company in order to search an area in order to avoid bloodshed or disputes over found wreckage.

Recently, Dyson Dynamics has bought several of these contracts for cheap, only to 'stumble' upon half a dozen precursor-N68 stations. The gemini station is one of these stations, and the main setting of this project.

Precursor-T70

Also known as: Bulls, Kak'kav, Ssorden, Taaraut

A large quadrupled race with thick fur, large tusks, and three pairs of eyes. While none of their technology has faired well over the eons, their religion absolutely has. Dozens of planets have been turned into temples or places of religious worship by these precursors, almost at random. They have successfully spread to other precursors some way or another as well, their symbols and iconography pop up seemingly randomly on other precursor crafts.

This effect has spread to the current sapient species as well, with many integrating precursor-T70's religion into their lives, or some drawing parallels of currently existing religions to the precursor's.

Precursor-QM1

Also known as: Floaters, Anglers, Titik-Vee, Sikaxore, Szurh

A (supposedly) aquatic race with large frills that extend down their finned tails and two large arms/legs at their midsection. Only one city has been found on an oceanic planet (planet WA3-S9), still semi-functional. In the grand scheme of things, this is nothing of note. Several other precursors have more of a claim to fame, debatably more deserving of notice.

However, their fame came from a novel titled "Adrift at Sea", a xenofiction story about a vexori traveler who is lost on planet WA3-S9 and found by a member of precursor-QM1's species. This triggered a surge in xenofiction centered around precursor-QM1, hundreds of authors wanting to reach the same popularity as the original.
